A New Standard for ASN Education: Beatlie Campus

The Beatlie ASN Campus in Livingston is a pioneering educational facility designed to meet the complex needs of students aged 3-18 years with profound medical and educational needs. The primary challenge was to create an environment that not only met the stringent requirements of an ASN facility but also provided a joyful, stimulating space that supports both educational and therapeutic activities.

The design of the Beatlie ASN Campus focused on creating spaces that are both functional and inspiring.

Key features include:

• Hydrotherapy Pool: Aids in physical therapy and relaxation, providing a serene environment for students.
• Sensory Garden: An outdoor space that stimulates the senses and offers a calming retreat for students.
• Life Skills Area: A dedicated space where students can practice essential daily living skills in a safe, supportive environment.

A critical component of the design was the integration of Assistive Technology to support students with profound medical needs. Our ASN Specialist, Gladys, played a crucial role in sourcing and implementing these technologies, ensuring that the facility was equipped with the latest innovations to support student learning and well-being.

The facility has been celebrated not only for its functional excellence but also for its thoughtful, human-centered design. Winning the Small Public Development of the Year award at the 2024 Scottish Property Awards highlights the project's success in setting a new standard for ASN educational facilities.
