Balancing tradition with ambition, our work for King''s Ely Octagon School was inspired by its ancient roots in Cambridge. We distilled a heritage essence that could be blended into the school''s contemporary and urban location and be applied to any future schools in the Octagon vision.
With a music specialism taught throughout each school year, we''re creating a large music department over two floors, made up of several practice rooms, ensemble spaces, areas for music technology and recording studios. There will also be three black boxes for performances and a 600-seat auditorium linked to the drama department under the school''s performing arts umbrella.
History, innovation and culture â€" the interior design of the new school will pay homage to these three distinctive influences to offer a state-of-the-art learning environment.
